Standard Moon Procedure

Until recently I worked in a nightclub in Milton Keynes called WonderWorld, which opened last summer. I was one of the original staff that started when it opened. Since then most of the originals have gone on to other jobs or university, and after I left a couple of weeks ago there are now only a few left that were there from the beginning.

Last night we had a reunion of all the original staff (or the WonderWorld Crew/ WWC as we like to call ourselves) in a big night out. The plan was SMP - 'standard moon procedure' where we all meet in Moon Under Water - the Weatherspoons in the city centre - drink lots and see what happens.

Bar staff are notorious for drinking - you'd think serving a load of drunk idiots every weekend you would want to make sure you don't end up like them, but bar staff are so much worse.

As it was a weekday I didn't want to be too dressy, but having not been out for a while I wanted to make an effort (I'm a girl, half the fun of going out is getting ready!)

My dress is from Topshop, shoes from New Look and jacket from Ark

I love my leather jacket, it was a Christmas present from my boyfriend last year and it's so versatile, it will go with almost anything and is a good cover-up on a night out. It's also great for putting over a nice dress when you want it to look a bit more casual.

I also attempted a Christmassy look to my nails...
Both nail varnishes are from Barry M and the ring from Pandora

I tried to do a kind of 'gradient' thing with the glitter varnish but it didn't work too well... Still looks quite Chritmassy though so I was happy. Please excuse the shape of my nails and hands - their so odd, shaping my nails is difficult as they're naturally very small and square, and it's even worse when you have weird fingers that point different ways like me!

When I arrived at the pub people were already pretty merry and shots were on the cards

We then moved on to Revolutions for industry night where anyone in the customer service industry gets 50% off every Tuesday, great for us bar staff! Our Revs recently had a refurbishment and it looks GREAT now, there's so much more space for dancing upstairs, and downstairs is more for sitting and eating - it looks like a log cabin, very nice and cosy. Unfortunately I didn't manage to get any photos of the refurb, was too busy catching up with people and dancing!

My boyfriend and I ended up getting back home at about 5, which I wasn't so happy about when I had to get up at 9! Had such a fun night though and definitely need more WWC reunions!

Ladies-that-do-coffee

On Sunday I met up with some of my school friends. There was a close group of 5 of us who still meet up every holiday and have a constant facebook chat message going on where we give quick updates about what we're all up to. It's such a great way to keep in touch for us as we're all busy doing different things (3 at uni, 2 working) so dropping a quick message means you don't have to take any time away from tasks and we can all respond on-the-go.

When we meet up is when we have our big catch-up sessions. 2 of the girls had just got back from uni, and I had just finished work for the holidays. We met up in my home town of Milton Keynes, originally to go to the Winter Wonderland, but as that was such a big scam (read about it here) we just decided to look round the Christmas display in the shopping centre, grab a coffee, and exchange secret santa presents.

(On a side note, the amazing citizens of MK are putting on a last-minute volunteer winter wonderland, called mini wonderland MK, to try and bring back Christmas for all the disappointed children and families. It's happening this weekend and I'll try to post about it if I get a chance to go, but for now learn more here)

The Christmas display in the shopping centre is always amazing, with a different theme every year - this year it's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (with a Cinderella's castle for good measure). They have a santa's grotto, christmas market stalls, a carousel and they always display a nativity scene.
Unfortunately I didn't manage to get many photos as we had such little time together we didn't want to waste it!

We then popped over to a Costa to have a good catch up over a coffee (or in my case nothing - I'm completely broke as my placement bursary has not come through yet :( and just before Christmas!) and exchange our secret santa presents. We only had a £5 budget but, being girls, still managed to include chocolate in each present!

I gave Emma Barry M's crystal glaze nail polish, which I love - gives plain colours another dimension and is GREAT for the winter months - and a selection box.
From Bex I received a big bar of galaxy and '10 clues' card game. It's a very simple but very difficult game where you have to guess the item from the clues, and get different points depending on how long it takes you to guess - I think it would make a great drinking game! You can get it here

After that I had to rush off for to help my mum with some stuff at home. It was a great day with old friends and we've already got a girly movie and takeaway night planned for the end of the week :)

See you soon!

Abstract

Hi!

I'm Alice. I turned the big 2-1 this year and I'm a psychology undergraduate (currently on my responsible 9-5 placement year!).

I have a couple of reasons for starting a blog - one being I read it can improve your writing style and help with making it more concise, something I definitely need to improve before the all important third year and dissertation next year! As well as that I've recently developed a big interest in blogs of all sorts. I love being nosey and looking into other people's lives - what makes them happy, their thoughts and opinions, and just how they're different to me. This may be because I'm a psychologist, or just because I'm a human. I wanted a bit of this blogging action, so here I am!

I researched a bit about starting a blog, and everything I read stressed the importance of having a 'niche' or a particular subject you would write about. I have no niche, I'm a really normal person, and this blog will just be whatever takes my fancy - food, lifestyle, interesting (maybe) psychology posts.

(The blog name - Most of my friends call me by my surname or shortened versions of, which can include Bucks, Buck, or Ugly Buckling, so somewhat based around that!)

So look out for future posts, if you have any ideas of what you'd like to see post it in the comments. See you soon!
